We are starting to do some marketing for the site now and would like to encourage new users to join. Registration is free and allows you to post content to the site. And that's what our first contest is going to be about; we want to do a membership and content drive. We've set up a system on the site that allows users to earn points for different actions that are completed here. The list is as follows:

• Blog entry - 2 points
• Forum topic - 3 points
• Comment - 1 point
• Classified ad - 5 points(paid) 1point(free)
• Successfully invite a new user to join - 15 points

Because of what is known as a 'hit and run' post, we've implemented minimum word counts for the different types of content. That will hopefully stop people from posting comments such as "Cool!" with the only intent of boosting their points.

The contest will run for 31 days from the time that we become an active site (in this context that will be defined as having an average of 3 or more posts from members per day), the winner will be announced after the close of the contest. At that time all members with at least 60 points will be put into a drawing for the prize. We will reveal what the prize is closer to the deadline, but it will be a minimum of a $75.00 value.
